Binocs - the company and your role
11 months as SDE intern at Binocs, an AI commercial due diligence platform in Bangalore, owning Stripe payments, the deck pipeline, and EKS infra.
I joined Binocs in July 2025 as an SDE intern, in-person Bangalore, and stayed for 11 months. Binocs is an AI-first commercial due diligence platform. The product collapses what used to be a week of analyst grunt work (pull the deck, score the market, write the memo) into a few hours. Buyers are PE associates and corp dev teams.
My role was not the usual intern role. Inside two months I owned three Stripe microservices in prod (checkout, tax-and-geo pricing, webhooks) and shipped them with zero failed transactions through the whole year. After that I owned the AI slide deck pipeline, cut LLM cost 99 percent by pushing structural layout out of the model and into deterministic code, and ran an EKS right-sizing pass that saved 1.8K to 2K USD per month.
The thing that mattered more than any single project was ownership. When the Fibre CDD vertical needed to launch, the team gave me 7-8 days and I shipped it end-to-end. When a P0 fired on Sunday I was on a call, not waiting for Monday. Weekend hot fixes were normal, not a story to tell.
I also shipped a full internal admin tool, end-to-end, in 24 hours. 40-plus internal users were on it the next morning. That was the project that taught me how much you can ship when you stop polishing and start cutting.
I declined the FTE offer in May 2026. Not because the work was wrong, the work was the best I have done. My father is in stage 3 cancer treatment and I needed to be near Delhi. That is the honest version. I would work with that team again in a heartbeat if location was not in the way.
The product, the team, the pace. That is Binocs.
